was coming out, and it was being combined with a previously launched version of Monopoly and needed a new combo-style keyart. The Challenge Working based on the Switch case, due to its shape/size, I began ideating how to combine the two pieces of keyart. Brand requested to have the first read as Monopoly and the second read to be that this was two games in one. The Solution To archive the desired hierarchy of information, I began exploring layouts that had Mr. Monopoly pulled out from the two sets of artworks; this enforced the Monopoly brand as the first read. Developing the concept further, we decided to include a CTA indicating that this was a box with two games in one. We styled this CTA as a gold ribbon that would be placed at the top or side, pending the layout required. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5a9acb4536099bb6a695e373/1674508217300-E4M5NV8S9U2KMNAI3TQM/JD22_holiday-keyart_1.jpg design KEYART MODIFICATION Just Dance 2022 Holiday Keyart The Project Mid-way through holiday promotions, the brand team felt that consumers were fatigued by the same visuals and requested an alternative holiday keyart to help lift engagement. The Challenge The original holiday art of JD22 was snowflakes paired with a red ribbon, classic and festive. The brand team wanted an alternative option that worked with the JD22 keyart but gave it a fresh holiday feel unrelated to snowflakes or ribbons. The Solution I was inspired by the glowing nature of the keyart and gravitated toward the concept of holiday lights. I created two strings of lights, all subtly coloured to match each coach. I developed the brand identity, including a brand guide, sales deck, and website. She had a name in mind, Minerva, after the Roman Goddess of war but, more pointedly, wisdom. Minerva became a collective of creatives working remotely to achieve client goals. The Challenge Minerva needed a professional, clean brand that portrayed a creative flare. Marketing copy content was intended as the lead, with images and visuals as a secondary. I wanted to create a visual aesthetic that was streamlined and repeatable. The Solution Focusing on wisdom, we chose the owl as our main iconic visual. To lean into the historical connotation of the name, I chose an owl silhouette created in ancient Rome and was often found on coins and other artwork. Modernizing the owl, I made a colourful mosaic within the wings. This mosaic theme was pulled into additional tile graphics. Not forgetting that Minerva was also known for warfare, the play of an arrow fit perfectly with strategy. Created with acrylic paint on wood panels (or the occasional paper board), it is a dance between thick and thin/sharp and soft layers of contrasting colours using a combination of pallet knives, brushes and reductive tools. Her paintings are representations of an inner dialogue with anxiety. She is inspired by moments of conflicting emotions/thoughts and the elusive sense of calm. It is this ambiguity, the back-and-forth / push-and-pull feeling that she aims to capture in her works while still maintaining an overarching sense of balance. Each work reflects how she sees herself at the time, and the method of painting helps her sort through emotions by giving them colour, texture, shape and rhythm. Finding balance within a piece puts life into perspective.
