FarCay 6 Twitter Tournament

The Project
Ubisoft Creative Services pitched the Ubisoft brand on a tournament-style social media campaign for the FarCry franchise. Utilizing Twitter polls, the team crafted a strategy of pinning various FarCry characters against each other with provocative statements to choose between. The goal was to draw up interest from new and old fans of original and the most recent characters and allow the internet to decide the ultimate fan favourite.

The Challenge
I had only showcased my illustration savvy a few times with Ubisoft. At the recommendation of my art director, I was chosen to be the illustrator for this project. I had never played or worked much on the FarCry franchise before this project, but with hours of research and watching YouTube play through’s, I could dive into each character’s personality.

The Solution
Working with the art director leading this project, I created 16 headshot illustrations of characters from every installment of the FraCry franchise. Before starting the project, the team pitched the brand on the art style — textured and high contrast with a propaganda poster vibe. Starting with linework to approve the pose and likeness, I moved on to the base colour layer. To achieve the final look, I added a painterly effect and screen-printing textures to hark back to the poster aesthetic.

The tournament went live on the FarCry 6 Twitter account in early November 2022. It was a hit with the community and is a success for the UCS team.
